Meet Marta
I picked up my first violin at age 4 in Latvia. By the time I was a teenager, I knew music would be my life - not just playing, but sharing it with others.
I hold a Bachelor's in Violin Performance and a Master's in Violin Teaching from the Latvian Academy of Music, plus RCM Teacher's Training certification. From 2015 to 2023, I played in a professional orchestra in Latvia and led youth orchestras on tours through Norway, Germany, and China.
I've been teaching since 2006 - kids, adults, complete beginners, returning players, and everything in between. My approach is rooted in the Suzuki method, which means listening comes first: you learn to hear the music before you learn to read it. But I'm not rigid about it. If you've been playing for a while and just want to learn a song you love, we'll do that.
Now based in Calgary, Canada, I teach students around the world through this site. Whether you're five or fifty-five, I'll meet you where you are.
